I wanted to be a story that was the cultural heritage of this land and that it belonged the oral tradition of this people. While doing research on fairy tales Friuli, Countess Ombretta Strassoldo told me the legend of Geneva. I fell in love immediately. It was an old story in its sweetness, despite the happy ending had denied any trace of mystery, perfectly re-create the atmosphere I was looking for.

LEGEND
In 1344 Geneva was married to Count Strassoldo Odorico Villalta. According to an ancient custom,
Odorico Villalta, once the marriage, he left the castle Strassoldo to reach his castle where he waited for the bride. While the beautiful Geneva was heading toward the fortress Tesal was the victim of an ambush by Count Frederick of Plenty which had previously been betrothed by her father. Cockaigne took prisoner and tried to use violence, but as a prodigy, the fierce Frederick failed to make a marble statue and, blinded by anger, he went mad. After weeks of searching and despair, the poor Odorico was able to vanquish the Abundance and find the tower of his castle with a beautiful marble statue of the features of Geneva. The legend says that thanks to the passionate kiss of Odorico marble quickly became flesh, and he found her beautiful.
